Is there anyone left here who comes to DA to share and apreciate art?

"Okay, look here dudes and dudettes- this is supposed to be a funny pic; got it? Nothing overly serious or dramatic; alright? I'm sorry if some people can't understand a joke if they see one--I was planning to take it down anyway once the creator of this character saw this."

This is an actual quote someone has under a submission on their picture. In their gallery, not even their scraps.

Deviantart is being used as photobucket and everytime someone SAYS something about it, they're suddendly 'elitiest snobs'. There is a HUGE difference between being unskilled and being a jackass. I remember when I used to be able to brows art and find art, now I brows it and I find hundreds of pictures of some girl's stupid cat taken with her webcam with shitty captions inserted in MS Paint. People uploading things to 'show friends and take down'. And you know, there are PLACES for this crap. They're called Photobucket, Imagecave and Myspace.

This isn't art. This is crap that the posters are ADMITING and stating in their discriptions isn't art. And DA is acting like it's ok, even attacking the people bringing up this issue. What the hell is WRONG with you?!

Is this what DA is about now? Do people actually suport this? Is there anyone left on DA who'd like to see this site be about the ART again?

You make a very good point. Instead of browsing by categories, I go to the pages of what I consider good artists, and look up their favorites and go from there...

I totally agree. That's what attracted me to dA in the first place. A place for beautiful artwork and art critique. Photography and drawing and painting is art. Crappy drunken drawings and photos of your cat are not art. That's BS. Thanks for bringing this issue up.

O.M.F.G. That is the UGLIEST piece of shit drawing i have EVER seen in my ENTIRE life!!! I have to agree with you, DA needs to dispose of crap like this. DA needs to be about ART. Not drunken doodles!! I have the hardest time finding actual ART on here as well, so i don't even bother browsing anymore. =/ I hope i don't fall under the "artless" category!

DA is totally not just like Photobucket... You can't hot link DA and Photobucket kills big pictures with a burning passion! I screwed up the code for one of my webcomics because I didn't notice photobucket resized the background image... Bah! Where was I going with this?

I absolutely agree with both of you. There is a lot of art on here that people look at and comment on that shouldn't even be called art. I'm picky about what I post and some other DA members should start doing the same.
