I get a staggering amount of notes, comments and otherwise requesting that I tell them where they can find good tutorials, resources and such for learning to do things in photoshop, and being that I was pretty much self taught up to this year, I didn't really have an answer for them... UNTIL TODAY. Well yesterday, but I didn't have time to write about it.



Young and growing, but already chock full of quality tutorials (juried to find only the best and most useful) and other learning resources specifically catering to photoshop users. I myself will continue to contribute my tutorials to this group as well

Some of you may or may not have noticed my lack of updates in my gallery, journals or even DDs. I have been away for the past week or so due to some stressful life circumstances and I will be taking a bit of a break from my account here to unwind and catch up on a few things. Unfortunately since I still do not have a partner GD for the anime/manga category things might be a bit slow, I apologize for this, but I simply do not have anyone to help me out right now. Do not feel the need to stop sending DD suggestions or anime/manga gallery inquirers, I will catch up in the next few weeks. I will try to catch up on comments and notes here and there, but it may take some time and my duties to DA must come before personal comments and submissions.

This is something that's always agitated me, but tonight I had the misfortune of catching a glimpse of someone's shout box FILLED with these stamps and my agitation came rushing out again like so many street vendor burritos. I can't even look for a decent gamer stamp anymore these things just flood the searches.

First of all, what the hell is a "Girl Gamer"? For some time I thought maybe this was a term for a person who played "girly games" like "Barbie Horse Adventure" and "Bratz", but it was later brought to my attention that a "Girl Gamer" is a gamer who happens to have a vagina.

Seriously... That's it.

So... Aren't you just a gamer? Why are girls so proud of being able to hold a controller while simultaneously being able to balance two X chromosomes? You're not special, having a clitoris doesn't make you more able than someone with a scrotum. female gamers aren't even rare, though for some reason, anyone feeling the need to sport a "Girl Gamer" stamp seems to think she is. I have two female roommates, they're both gamers. All my girl friends are gamers, I know more female gamers than I do male gamers. I went to a gaming meet at a local con and there where more girls than guys. You're so common that I can't even find a normal "Gamer" stamp amidst your "Girl Gamer" bullshit. What exactly is there to be proud of here? Congratulations, you have a uterus, you're so talented!

Bragging about being 'rare' or 'special' in a community like DA where you are a majority as far as girls go seems silly to me.)}

You don't see girl hockey players running around calling themselves "Girl Hockey players" they just call themselves hockey players. Why? Because they're able to see far enough past their vulva to realize that no one gives a shit and most of them want to be treated equally to the boys they play with. You want to be treated and respected equally to men in the gaming world? Then stop trying to elevate yourself higher than them with you're pretentious "Girl Gamer" bullshit, you're just a gamer. Actually, it is my experience that REAL female gamers just call themselves gamers, stop trying so hard and get over yourself, you look like a tool.

Next time I see someone with one of these stamps in their shout box or another 16 year old female kingdom hearts fantard cosplaying Sora squawks "I'm a girl gamer" in my ear while I'm trying to play with the real gamers at a meet, I'm going to assume they're proud of playing "Girl Games" since they are "Girl Gamers".

I was supposed to pimp out #3 sooner but I ended up not updating my journal since then so it ended up not getting posted, but anyways! ^DCZed does monthly colouring contests worth keeping an eye out for Heres an example of #3 [link] I'll be doing a guest lineart for a future colouring contest (which one still to be determined) and try to keep posted for #4 for you guys, or you can just go watch ^DCZed because I'm terrible at remembering to update shit.

I get asked this a lot actually, so while I am trying to write up a nice DD guide for people, I feel I should just state this for the record for my watchers right now.

Yes. You CAN suggest yourself for a Daily Deviation.

If you're going to try to suggest yourself to a GM though, do be courtious about it. "I thing I deserve a DD, check out my gallery" is a good way to get your note deleted. Suggest a specific piece (or a few if you can not choose) just like you would suggest anyone else

I hope this notice has been generally helpful.


While I have your attention, I would also really appreciate it if you notice that a new piece that I submit doesn't show up in your inbox, please report it to me for testing. I will be uploading another test tonight. I know that there are people who arn't getting them, but testing is really hard if they arn't reported to me (I also know people arn't even aware I'm submitting or that this is a problem because they do not read journals), so the more people who can let me know that this is happening the easier it will be to fix. Thank you!

Now that school has started again, I don't have much time for myself here on DA, so I'm mostly only able to tend to GM related business atm, I will try to answer more personal messages when I can
