At first the hundreds of cosplay photos on the front page in different photography categories was really irritating (like, worse than the bad fanart irritating, the only thing more boring than a bad, unoriginal, over done drawing is a bad, unoriginal, overdone photo.) But now it's starting to get a bit entertaining. After years of photographers (and many others) bitching 'needs more photography on the front page!' 'too much anime!' 'too much fanart!', DA has responded in turn with too much anime fanart photography.

Of course this problem could be easily fixed by adding a 'cosplay' category to the photography categories, which has been recommended numerous times by numerous people, so really it's no their fault as a cosplay can technically go into almost any other photography category as it stands. And as it is becoming more and more popular, I can only expect to see more and more of it show up on DA, as it is fanart, and worse, it is super quick to do type fanart. Not that I'm belittling the art, I have many friends who do this sort of thing, it takes time and skill to make a good costume (assuming you aren't buying it from someone, which is what MOST people do), it takes thought and understanding to compose your photos. But in most cases once rikuluver99's bought her costume off ebay she can run out into the yard and take 9000 myspace type shots, post them all in diff catagories and she's done! It's fanart, so you know it'll sell :B And the fact of the matter is, I'm no photographer, but I know good photography when I see it, and what I'm seeing 99% of the time with this is not good photography.

I can only expect DA to deal with it poorly (or not at all).
